One of today's most consistently solid, visionary producers, ASC comes at you once again with "Black Steel", a driving kaleidoscope of drums flavored with searingmercury synth stabs. A subtly evolving, shifting mass of breaks and percussion propel the tune forward, a shuffling drive that simultaneously cradles and destabilizes the listener as a haunting disembodied vocal cements the intergalactic space chase theme.
B. Wizard - What Lies Beneath
Lush pads giving way to hollow staccato drums marks the intro to the infamous boss of Gamma Ray Records' throbbing, bass-heavy, hypnotic contribution. Masterful delay cycles, warm synths and the thick, dense embrace of the bassline all add up to a texturally rich song with a wide variety of drum sounds, from sharp single hits, to a chattering row of Doppler rhythms all tied into a cohesive organic whole.
